This log records changes that states make to their fees, with the old amount, the new amount and the date the new fee took effect. The new amount links to its official source. Our own corrections of data are not listed here; they are handled as described in corrections.

How changes are found: every fee is re-checked against the state's own page at least every 90 days, and an archived copy of each official page is compared with the new one. When the amount changes, we record the old and new amounts, the date the new fee took effect where the state gives one, and the date we found the change. The state pages, the fee table and the tools switch to the new fee at the same time.

When each state's current fees took effect

Where a state says when its current fee schedule started, or which law last set it, this table gives its words. A recent date is a sign to check the state page before you pay: older forms and third-party sites often still show the previous fee.

Before you pay

A fee change usually reaches the state's own web page first, then its printed forms, and third-party sites last. If a form you downloaded earlier shows a different amount from the state page, follow the state page, and use the newest form revision listed on the state's record page here. A check for the old amount may be returned, which costs you the processing time.
